United World  Colleges (UWC) Scholarship Opportunity for Afghan Youth 2026 - 2027

The UWC Afghanistan National Committee invites applications for its fully funded scholarships for Afghan students. This program is open to motivated young people (ages 15–17) who want to make a difference in their communities while receiving a world‑class education. United World Colleges (UWC) is a global network of 18 schools and colleges whose mission is to use education as a force for peace, sustainability, and intercultural understanding.

Each year, UWC Afghanistan selects outstanding Afghan students to study the International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma or Career‑related Program) during their final two years of secondary school at UWC campuses worldwide.

Eligibility

• Afghan citizens or Afghan refugees (in Afghanistan or neighboring countries)

• Age: 15–17 at entry

• Secondary education completed or ongoing (formal, community, self‑study, or online)

• Valid Tazkira and Passport

• Academic readiness, resilience, and commitment to UWC values

• English proficiency is encouraged, but fluency is not mandatory at the time of application.

Where You Can Study

Placements may be offered at UWC campuses in countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Norway, USA, Japan, Germany, Eswatini, Hong Kong, Bosnia, Italy, Armenia, Costa Rica, China, Netherlands, UK, Canada, and India.

Academic Program

Students follow the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, which includes:

• Language & Literature

• Language Acquisition

• Individuals & Societies

• Sciences

• Mathematics

• The Arts

Core IB components that every student engages:

• Extended Essay (EE): independent research project

• Theory of Knowledge (TOK): critical thinking and understanding knowledge

• Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS): artistic, physical, and community service projects

Student Support

UWC provides:

• Houseparents and student advisors

• Peer support networks

• Nurses, counselors, psychologists, and wellness staff

• Access to healthcare on campus and locally

• Spiritual care and community support

Required Documents:

• Completed online application form (via UWC Afghanistan portal)

• Valid ID: Tazkira (Afghan National ID) + Passport (valid for at least 2 years)

• Recent digital photo (passport size)

• Academic records (current + previous year, translated into English if needed)

• CV or activity record (extracurriculars, leadership, community work)

• 1–2 recommendation letters (teachers, mentors, community leaders)

• Parent/guardian consent form

• Motivational essays / short questions

• Optional: certificates, awards, language certificates, community service proof

Note: Documents from accredited online schools are also considered valid in this process. like: EBA ( Education Bright Afghanistan and others.)
