🇦🇫 Represent Afghanistan at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2027
Artificial Intelligence is becoming one of the most important fields shaping the future of education, technology, and innovation. To identify and support talented young students in this rapidly growing area, BANFES (Blockchain and AI Non-Formal Education System) is organising the Afghanistan National Selection for the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2027. This initiative serves as Afghanistan's first official national process for selecting students who will represent the country at the world's leading AI Olympiad.
The competition is open to school-age students living and studying in Afghanistan and is completely free at every stage. Through a multi-round selection process, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, receive specialised training, and compete for a place on Afghanistan's national AI team. Four students will be selected as official team members, while two additional students will be chosen as reserve members. The selected team will go on to represent Afghanistan at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2027, which will be jointly hosted by AI Singapore (AISG) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore from 4 to 10 July 2027.

Eligibility Requirements
To apply, students must meet the following conditions:
Applicants must be 20 years old or younger by 1 July 2027.
Applicants must be studying full-time in:
Primary school, or
Secondary school
Students who are:
Home-schooled, or
Studying through non-formal education systems may also apply if they have not yet completed high school.
Applicants must:
Live in Afghanistan
Receive their education in Afghanistan
Students are encouraged to apply from any background:
Provinces
Ethnic backgrounds
Religions
Genders
Economic backgrounds
No Special Requirements
No school nomination is needed.
Previous Olympiad experience is not required.
Students with interrupted educational backgrounds may also participate.
Selection Process
The programme consists of several stages.
Step 1: Online Registration: Submit your application online between 5 September and 1 October 2026.
Step 2: Receive Student Code: After registration, you will receive:
A unique six-character student code
Round 1 answer sheet by email
Step 3: Round 1 Examination on 15 October 2026. The first round is:
Online
Multiple-choice
Focused on Mathematics, Statistics, and Probability
Students can complete the answer sheet and submit a photo using a mobile phone. A printer is not required.
Step 4: Advanced Selection Rounds: Students who successfully pass Round 1 will progress to later stages of the competition, which will be conducted at provincial and national examination centres within Afghanistan.
Step 5: National Training Camp: Following the training programme, the national team will represent Afghanistan at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2027 in Singapore from 4 to 10 July 2027.
